Our little dear continues to be an absolute delight. Her baby talk is getting very impressive and melodious. We’ve started working on the “ma”s and “da”s, but no luck yet. She’s pushing 13 pounds these days, which has caused me to stop carrying her car seat around – my goodness the back pain. She learned to fall asleep on her own this week…a big accomplishment in my eyes! Turn on the mobile, give her Blue Bear (a soft little bear blanket)…ten minutes and she’s out.

This month’s picture is a pretty accurate depiction of her latest development. Everything is a possible subject to be tasted…be that her thumb – which she sucks to go to sleep, her blanket – which she chews on very aggressively, a brightly colored toy – preferably that lights up or sings, or anything else thats within reach. I was standing next to a tree earlier this week, and before I knew it she had grabbed at a leaf and was pulling it towards her wide open mouth. She watches us very carefully while we eat our food, and kind of mimics our chewing motion. I can’t wait to watch her fun faces when we can start feeding her solid foods. Eric’s looking forward to feeding her lemons.

She has been so content to play with the two toys that I’ve offered her – a Rainforest themed play mat for around the house, and a light up ladybug for “on the go”…No wonder she was entertained by a leaf. I was at a friends house this week and she had a whole myriad of toys around to delight her daughter’s senses. I laid Emily down too and it was as if she had gone to Disneyland…I came home and started pulling out other toys (which we’ve had, I just thought she’d play with them when she got older) and sure enough new joys abound with the variety. She played with a ball for half an hour and by the end Eric had her doing some decent headers. As you know, she’s very advanced!

We enjoyed a very fun evening with the Bridgmans, attending T-Town’s (Tustin’s) very own concert in the park series. This week…a Beatles tribute band. The park was just a 5 minute walk from their house, so we loaded up their radio flyer wagon with wine, cheese, brownies, two kiddos and some weather proof blankets, and headed out for some summer evening fun. Great times! Even Emily was singing along.

Ever since the concert I’ve been singing In My Life to Emily when she cries. Works like a charm. An early appreciation for the world’s greatest band.

Eric and Emily spent some time lounging and watching baseball Sunday afternoon. Favorite “snacks” in hand – Doritos for Eric, and a pacifier for Emily. Too funny.

That night we hit up the RSM Concert in the Park with the Cleary family. It was Motown Night…we went picnic style, played cards, and sang along to all the classics. The highlight being the finale, “Shout”, we were all up dancing.

Eric and I were a part of a start up church when we were first married, called South County United. Sadly the church didn’t last, but the Lord stretched us in great ways over those 3 years and we made lasting friendships with lots of couples/families along the way.

Eric (completely on his own initiative) planned a reunion to get all the families together again for a day of play and catch up. We set up camp at a neat-o park in MV. We BBQ’d, played a softball game, volleyball, frisbee, water balloon toss, water balloon fight (that’s a given), plus lots of chatting and doting on all the new kiddos.

Such a fun day! Thanks everyone for coming. It was such a hit that Eric is inspired to plan another. Soccer anyone?

Just an adorable picture that I had to share. I love that dimple!

Look out people! Wednesday night at the Elks Lodge in Mission Viejo, people are getting their Bingo on. Me, my mom, sister, and friend Molly got in on the action last night. Four hours of intense play. We’re not talking straight lines here…flying kite, stamps, inside/outside corners, railroad tracks, double/triple bingos, blackouts…yeah, intense.

We didn’t win, although I came within 1 number of winning 3 times. Lots of winners at our table though…Ginny, who came with a tupperware full of Twinkies. Ronnie, it’s her birthday today. The lady to my left who asked me to move down because she needed to move her arms freely.

I’ve learned now how to play, when to arrive, not to mess with the regulars, fries are $.75, coffee is free, coffee is terrible, it’s 62 degrees in there, no sharing cards, troll dolls are out, don’t trust a whitey.

You’ve gotta get there! Great fun.

My dear friends, Shannon & Jeff, got married this weekend at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, in San Diego. Talk about a good looking couple!

I was honored to be a bridesmaid for their big day. Eric took the babe and a gang load of bottles, while I was primped and prepped for looking lovely. I got to wear a pretty dress and get my hair and make-up done. Quite a contrast to my new “day in the life”.

Eric, on the other hand, arrived with spit up on his crotch. He stayed outside with Emily during the ceremony, and I walked laps with her in the gardens during the reception. Eric and I love weddings…we get dressed up, we eat good food, we dance the night away. However, we’ve quickly learned that weddings are a little different with a baby in tow.

Emily was a little angel, Eric and I had a lot of fun (and laughed a lot), and we had a wonderful day, celebrating the marriage of Shannon & Jeff. Many congratulations to the Happy Couple!
