I think Emily is becoming very suspicious of her mirrored self.

Little one has learned how to slide backward, so I guess its officially time to get outlet covers, put lock and key on the cleaning supplies, hide our phone cords, get all of our knive sets out of reach…all that good stuff. She’s growing too fast!

I took some pictures of Emily today for our Christmas Card. This is little Mems new favorite face, which popped up in most of the pictures when I was sorting through.

I like to think that she’s trying to learn how to whistle Jingle Bells in time for Christmas morning. Eric thinks she’s blowing kisses. Either way…darn cute.

We spent the afternoon with Caeden and Camy for our 3rd Annual Fall Festival.

We carved our glorious pumpkin.

We baked and decorated cookies.

And we played Nintendo, Jenga, and Yahtzee. Camryn got the only Yahtzee…but Caeden was the big winner!

As always…fun times with the kiddos.

Eric and I attended my 10-year High School Reunion this weekend. Eric wanted me to feel like the best version of myself, so he suggested that I buy a new dress. Isn’t it just so typical that when you have money to spend, you can’t find anything that you want to buy. So, I saved our money and wore a Natalie Johnson staple – my J.Lo green dress – and still felt like the best version of myself. Win, Win.

It was at the Hilton in Irvine, which was way nicer than I expected. I don’t know that it was “$89.00-a-head” nice, but still quite nice. A good turn out, probably 150-200 people. Eric reminded me to flip through my yearbook that day, which was a huge help because I didn’t have to refer to a single name tag. I must say that Facebook was a huge help in making this a fun evening. Ever since joining, I’ve been friend requested by many high school pals – so there were far less of the “so what have you been doing for the past 10-years” kind of conversations, and more time for reminiscing and dancing.

I only got one request for “Boom Dynamite”, only one awkward confrontation, and only one “Oh my goodness you guys got MARRIED?” I was really hoping to win an award for longest standing high school couple, but no such award was given. Boo. Other than that, it was a great evening visiting with old friends.

We met up with Sara and Bailey, and Nicole and Hadlee at Irvine Park in Orange on Friday. Nicole and her husband, Chris, were another couple that we met in our birthing class, so it was a fun reunion for all of us.

Irvine park is beautiful! I had never been there before, but hope to go back again soon. We had bigger plans than we accomplished in our afternoon: the zoo, feeding the ducks, going to the pumpkin patch…we spent most of the time on a blanket, watching our girlies and catching up. It was great fun.

In this picture Bailey had stolen Hadlee’s pacifier and was offering it to Emily instead. It was as if she was saying, “Oh here you go. I’ve noticed that you like these things”.

We got Caeden and Camryn all jazzed for picking up pumpkins today for our 3rd annual tradition with them. Eric had found a coupon in the mail for $1 pumpkins at the Ladera Ranch Farmers Market – as big as your child could carry – so we were so excited to keep up our tradition with them without breaking the bank. However…we got there at 10:30 and it had opened at 8:00, so this was all that was left. Turns out we’ll need to break the bank after all ;)

They had great attitudes about it anyhow, and we enjoyed a little outing with them. Next weekend is the carving and lighting ceremony, along with anything else they want to do. We talked about this on the way back to their house, and here’s the list they’ve come up with thus far:
Jenga
Nintendo
Baking cookies
Watching a movie
Weighing ourselves (I did this with Caeden the first time I watched him at Eric and my apartment when he was like a year old and, I kid you not, he still does it every time he comes over to this day.)
Carving the pumpkin (Caeden’s totally going to touch the goo inside this year, he’s really excited about it.)
I told them to come up with a final list of activities before next weekend and we’d have a little Fall Festival. We love playing with them! We can hardly wait!

Our baby girl is 7 months old today! Is this going by crazy fast for anybody else?

Currently her favorite activities are jumping in her jumperoo, rolling onto her stomach, eating peaches, watching Sesame Street, reading books (preferably ones she can also chew on), being with other kids, and especially violently loud sounds – they make her laugh every time. Other kids making violently loud sounds is the greatest enjoyment of all.

Eric and I are loving parenthood. Every day seems to be more and more fun. Eric usually checks on Emily sleeping before we go to bed, then he comes into our room, lets out a deep sigh and says “she’s so radical”. We always get the advice from parents with older kids to “really enjoy it”. I can honestly say that we are “really enjoying it”.

Thank you Lord for this blessed gift.

Emily has gotten to be a champ at eating her solid foods. Well that, and we’ve discovered that she has favorites and not-so-favorites, so we accommodate. Here’s a little peak at her intro to fruits & veggies, and her fun loving attitude toward it all.

My dear friend, Beckey Brumfield hosted a cocktail party this weekend. It was a celebration of her birth, combined with her graduation from cosmetology school. We got all dressed up and enjoyed an evening among adults eating fantastic hors d’oeuvres, drinking Beckey-tinis, and meeting new, fun people.

We almost didn’t make it because all of our sitters were unavailable: my parents, Eric’s parents, Brooke and Darren. Fortunately, Nicole and Kathy were putting on their very own baby-sitters club that night and offered to include Emily in the mix. She stayed up past her bedtime, fully enthrawled by the older kids playing guitar, singing and dancing around her. Needless to say she slept very well that night.
