Bailey got Emily a butterfly garden for her birthday (last year! We finally cashed it in). Our little larvae arrived, they ate and ate and ate, until they were big old squishy caterpillars. Then they spun their cocoons to undergo the miracle of metamorphosis. And now we have 5 little butterflies flying around a little mesh cage in our home. An amazing thing to see for a 3-year-old and 30-year-old alike. Emily is daily feeding them sugar water and holding and petting each one.

What a fun idea! I want one of those. Lately there have been a bunch of caterpillars around our house. We dutifully stop what we are doing, kneel down, and inspect the caterpillar. If he’s in the middle of the road, I’ll bring him safely to a bush, because I’m all about safety.
We have a cocoon right in our back yard that we check out often. But I’m afraid he’s going to just fly off, and we won’t be able to see how beautiful he is.
Berlyn would love to have her very own butterfly farm.
Hope you guys are doing well!!

A wonderful update with so much happening! And such creativity with blowing up the hospital glove into a balloon for Evan. Now Emily and Evan can be the “big” cousins to Karis Dot.
